I fell out of love..

..with Photography.

Blurred pictures. That’s my downfall.

Well, it’s not just that. There’s a lot more to it.. I can even make a list!

  • The hassle of transferring the images from my camera to the computer. Back when I was using the laptop, I can easily transfer them using the memory card and plugging it in the laptop’s built-in card reader.  Now that I’m using my new desktop, I have to take out the USB cord, plug it in the CPU and patiently wait for the images to finish downloading. Yes, it takes a long time. (And the tiring part is that I’d have to be always careful not to drop my camera)
  • It’s bulky. My camera bag is quite big without really much space in it for another lens and other stuff. What I’m saying is – it is not space-wise (not sure if such a word exists).
  • My knowledge of Photography is moody. I have read my dslr’s manual thoroughly. I know my camera. Every feature, every mode. But there comes a time when I can’t get the perfect shot that I want. I forget the settings or whatnot.
  • Light is tricky. Too tricky.
  • Taking a picture feels like a chore. No art, no meaning.
  • Photography is too expensive.

I could go on and on.. until, I remembered why I got into photography in the first place.

I take pictures because I want others to see what I see.

Not for fame nor recognition. But for an appreciation of the things that I envision – for people to notice the intricacy of things or the vastness of it all.

So.. I guess writing this post (which is originally supposed to be purely rants) saved my relationship with photography.

Lesson learned:

Dude, not cool.

I love technology. I really do.

And I’m glad I chose a career/work in this field.

If there’s one thing I don’t like about it – It’s being the one who’s smart enough (not being boastful here, seriously) to actually catch someone doing something that’s not supposed to be done with the help of technology.

I mean seriously, keep private things to yourself. That’s what “privacy” is all about.

I may be an adult and of mature age but I get sick whenever I encounter stuff like this. I prefer to see the good in people – not the scandalous side.

So for anyone reading this, keep in mind – don’t do what you don’t want others to see.

Or if you really can’t help it – then at least be smart enough to not get caught. Because it really is not cool.

Myku vs. The haircut

November 10th, 2011 § 1 Comment

Today I had my haircut at the parlor.

The experience was – somewhat interesting. It started off well, – I closed my eyes because I was a bit tired. When I woke up and looked at myself in the mirror, I had to bite my tongue to stop myself from laughing.

Let’s just say all I can hear in my mind is the song “The hills are alive with the sound of music.. la la la laa….”

Seriously, I looked a lot like Mary from this movie ->

It was hard to contain myself from laughing. It took a couple more minutes before the thought sank in – why the heck am I laughing? It’s my hair. I look funny.

And so the feeling of dread began.

I closed my eyes again, with the hope that everything will be okay.

As I opened them up and had a look at the mirror infront of me – Maria was no longer there.

Hello Spock!

Again, instead of anger – I was trying to control my laughter. I was sooo ready to breakout and say “Energize”. :)

Oh well.. the good thing about hair is that it grows back. Good thing mine grows quite rapidly.

The BestFriend Tag

October 13th, 2011 § 1 Comment

Okay, so first of all, I have been tagged here. And to be tagged means to tag another person so that I’m not “IT”.

So there’s this list of questions I am to answer. Since today is BestFriend’s day (not) :) hehe.. I will answer the following questions to the best of my awesomeness.

How and when did you meet?

* A Stake Youth Conference.

What’s your favorite memory?

* 4GB RAM.

Describe each other in one word.

* Legen – - (wait for it…) dary.. LEGENDARY!

What is your bestfriend’s dream job?

* I always ask her this question and she answers me that she already loves her job ( web developer). But I think she’d love to be my 2nd shooter and have a career like j*.

What is something that annoys you about the other person?

* Tantrums.

If you could go anywhere in the world together where would it be?

Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Favorite song?

What is it like being best friends with someone who is obsessed with Movies?

* It’s okay. As long as we agree on watching English movies – not Tagalog, nor Korean (or anything that entails reading from a subtitle).

What is a weird habit your best friend has?

* Painting her nails while watching a movie/TV. I don’t get it. Super multi-tasking. I wonder where her eyes are fixed at – the TV or her nails.

What are you proud of?

* I am proud to be a Cagayan-on.  Okay, that answer is in no way connected to the topic. So, if I were to rephrase the question – What is it about my best friend that I can be proud of? Well, she is intelligent. Proof? She graduated Cumlaude. She is the “brains” in brainstorming (that leaves me being the ‘storming’ part).

What is similar between you two?

* We are both awesome.

Do you have any traditions?

* Christmas traditions.

When did you realize this person was your best friend?

* When  she stopped being my enemy.

How has your friend help to make you a better person?

* By being a good example.

There,… vjlulu, TAG you’re IT!

The cure to “Harry-Potter-Withdrawal-Syndrome”

August 16th, 2011 § Leave a Comment

If only I could summon “accio Harry Potter 8″ then all would be well.

But no. I guess all good things must come to an end.

So while patiently waiting for my ‘early access’ email to Pottermore, I’ve been showing signs and symptoms of HPWS – Harry Potter Withdrawal Syndrome.

I searched the internet and have found a few suggestions (not from webmd.com of course) but from a witty blog I’ve read.

So here it is…

Hunger Games

This novel by Suzzane Collins introduces an interesting story of a new world in the future where a boy and a girl each from their own place is sent to battle and participate in the Hunger Games – a form of gladiator-style entertainment set by the ever powerful and yet corrupt city called the Capital.

If I were to describe my experience with this book, I’d say it’s totally working its magic at curing my HPWS. For reals.

Another good thing is.. that they’re making a movie and will be released to come out next year. :) So I guess that takes care of my “Movies to look forward to for next year”.

But rest assured, nothing could ever replace the HP series. Haha..

My two favorite things. TV & Food.

Recently, my favorite show – Masterchef Australia series 3 has just ended. And I must say, it was quite a happy ending for me because my bet won!

Kudos to Kate Bracks for winning Masterchef Australia 2011! :)

She showed skill and expertise in cooking and on top of that never failed to put up a smile. She’s probably the most optimistic person of all the top 24.

Her savoury dishes were mouth-watering. Plus her desserts made me want to reach out to the TV and grab a bite.

Now with series 3 done, the wait is on for series 4 next year!

I’m fat, so what?

July 3rd, 2011 § Leave a Comment

Pardon the sarcasm. But given this recent change in my physical progress, I have had heard of comments that are quite unpleasant to hear.

I have spent my whole childhood and teen years as a skinny little kid. I used to admire people who were ‘chubby’ because I feel that they are happy. It is true! Chubby people more often than not are usually equated as cheerful happy persons.

Now I’m one of them. And I am happy to be one!

In total honesty, I love the way I am today and have no regret about it. I have grown to be a person with a great appreciation of food and flavor and the many things it has brought into my life.

Don’t get me wrong – I’m not pro obesity and unhealthy living. I always believe that absolutism is not good. Too much of everything is bad. What I’m trying to get at is to live wisely.

I pity those who restrain their selves from eating only to enhance their shape and beauty. I say – beauty is not on the shape of your body or on how many abs you get. It is not how low the size of your waistline goes or the pounds you’ve shed off. Beauty is the radiance of your total being. It is that smile that you give away even when your cheeks bulge up. Beauty is the happiness that emanates from your self and share on to others as you feel truly happy and contented of who you are and what you have become.

In conclusion, a great helping of delicious food coupled with a healthy dose of exercise and activities makes one a truly beautiful person. Add in a dash of confidence and that killer smile – then you might be surprised how people will treat you.

Stay happy :)
